How is Zithromax supplied?
Zithromax tablets are film-coated, each containing 250mg of azithromycin. An oral suspension is also available.
Dosage
Zithromax must be used exactly as per your doctor's instructions. Your doctor will decide on your specific dosage and length of treatment.
If you have been prescribed the capsules, each dose should be taken 1-2 hours before food. Each dose must be taken with 8 ounces of water (one glass).
If you have been prescribed the oral suspension, use a proper measuring cup or spoon to make sure you pour the correct amount. A kitchen spoon is not suitable. Before measuring the dose, shake the bottle well.
In the case of a missed dose, it may be taken when remembered, but if the next dose is due soon, do not take the missed dose. Never take extra amounts of medication to catch up on missed doses.
If an overdose of Zithromax is suspected, get professional medical attention quickly. Symptoms are severe stomach pain, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting.
Zithromax does not cure or prevent viral infections like influenza and colds.
